V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day was born in 1998 as an outgrowth of Eve Ensler's Obie-Award winning play, "The Vagina Monologues." As Eve performed the piece in small towns and large cities all around the world, she saw and heard first hand the destructive personal, social, political and economic consequences violence against women has for many nations. "The Vagina Monologues" is a series of monologues about women's experiences. This is a funny and yet serious performance, inviting the audience into a very intimate and often untold sacred space. Audiences will be guaranteed to laugh and be inspired by human resilience and strength. Not only will audiences be encouraged to laugh but there will be times of tears too. V-Day's mission is simple. It demands that the violence must end. It proclaims Valentine's Day as V-Day until the violence stops. When all women live in safety, no longer fearing violence or the threat of violence, then V-Day will be known as Victory Over Violence Day.

The V-Day Performance of "The Vagina Monologues"

There is a large cast of amazing actresses who will grace the stage.

Not only will audiences be encouraged to laugh but there will be times of tears too. The atrocities of thousands of women of Kosovo and Bosnia being raped as a systematic tactic of war is poignantly portrayed by Elaine Hudson and Shay Spencer. In contrast, Albany Dighton stars in a scene about attending a 'Vagina Workshop' where women experience healing, wonder and discovery through becoming more intimate with their vaginas.

Singer/Songwriter Penelope Swales, also known for her role as instrument maker, guitarist and vocalist with Cabaret-style folk band Totally Gourdgeous, graces us with a scene about an angry vagina.

V-Day's mission is simple. It demands that the violence must end. It proclaims Valentine's Day as V-Day until the violence stops. When all women live in safety, no longer fearing violence or the threat of violence, then V-Day will be known as Victory Over Violence…
